Thieves broke into 22 storage units at Austin RV and Mini-Storage overnight Tuesday.
The thefts were discovered Wednesday morning by an employee reporting to work. The business is located at 2507 17th Street SE (U.S. Highway 218 South).
According to a Mower County Sheriff’s Department report, the thieves apparently drove to the site and then walked to a fence along the south side of the secured facility, cut the fence and walked to the storage units.
There they cut padlocks to gain entrance.
The owner of the business, Duane E. McFarland is in the process of notifying the renters of the storage units so they can ascertain any losses.
The business has been re-secured by the owner, according to the Sheriff’s Department report.
