Elvera Correy, 82

Elvera M. Correy, 82, Owatonna, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at her home.

She was born Nov. 3, 1918, in Dodge County, the daughter of Ernest and Anna (Thomas) Eaker. Elvera married Everett Correy, Nov. 18, 1936, at St. John Lutheran Church, Havana Township. They farmed near Lansing Corners until she started work at Harriet’s Dreswel in Blooming Prairie, where she worked until her retirement in 1994. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church being active in an excellent gardener, canner and baker, specializing in peanut brittle. In her past she enjoyed NASCAR racing.

She is survived by son, Kenneth (Joan) Correy, Owatonna; daughter, Karen (Daniel) Pirkl, Owatonna; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth (Henry) Rochne, Maple Grove; half-sisters, Sonja (Larry) Turner, Kasson, Sylvia (Gene) Myre, Blooming Prairie.

She was preceded in death by her husband Everett, her father, Ernest Eaker, and her mother, Anna Thomas.

Service: 11 a.m. Saturday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Owatonna with the Rev. Giles Zimmer officiating.

Interment: Blooming Prairie Cemetery

Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Michaelson Funeral Home and on Saturday at Redeemer Lutheran Church from 10 to 11 a.m.

Douglas Monnier, 51

Douglas S. Monnier, 51, a rural Dexter farmer, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, unexpectedly at his home.

Douglas Monnier was born Jan. 13, 1950, to Stanley and Lavon (Kirkpatrick) Monnier. He attended and graduated from Grand Meadow High School and served in the Coast Guard. Dough farmed in the Dexter and Grand Meadow area for many years.

He is survived by his partner, Tracy Bartlett of Dexter; his mother, Lavon (Monnier) Pavek, Rochester; sisters, Kaloha (Ronald) Vermilyea, Vermont, Deanna Monnier, St. Paul; brothers, Mark (Merry) Monnier, Grand Meadow, Craig, LaCrosse, Wis. and Dexter.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Visitation: Friends are invited to the Doug Monnier farm from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday for a celebration of his life.

Myia Alwes-Trevino

Myia Grace Alwes-Trevino, age seven and a half months, of rural Blooming Prairie, died at her home, Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001.

She was born July 4, 2000, in Rochester to Jamie Trevino and Megan Alwes. She was baptized in Rochester on July 13. Myia was a precious little angel and will be sadly missed.

Survivors include her parents, Jamie Trevino and Megan Elizabeth Alwes, Blooming Prairie; maternal grandparents, Richard and Elizabeth Alwes of Blooming Prairie; paternal grandparents, Oscar Trevino, Blooming Prairie and Rafaela Trevino, Dallas, Texas; maternal great-grandparents, Elvin and Cecelia Alwes, Blooming Prairie, Dorothy Goudy, Austin; paternal great-grandmothers, Julia Trevino, Blooming Prairie and Maria Montoya, Mexico; several aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by maternal great-grandfather, Nathaniel Goudy and paternal great-grandfather, Luis Trevino.

Service: 11 a.m., Saturday at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie with The Reverend Richard Hegal officiating.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4: to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Blooming Prairie Funeral Home.

Interment: St. Columbanus Cemetery in Blooming Prairie.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials.
