MINNEAPOLIS – Andrew Panchenko’s hat trick helped keep the Austin Packers from winning Friday’s consolation semifinal against Eastview at the University of Minnesota’s Mariucci Arena.

In addition, Eastview’s Mike Lee had 28 saves in Eastview’s 4-2 win over Austin (21-5-1).

The game initially started out going back and forth. The Packers took a 1-0 lead at 2:04 with a goal by Andy Klapperick and assisted by Brad Wiechmann. Panchenko came back with the first of his three goals at 3:10 in the second period to tie up the game for Eastview, 1-1.

Wiechmann then put the Packers back in front at 5:43 in the second period. He was assisted on the goal by Klapperick and David Lorenzen.

Panchenko evened up the tally with his second goal at 7:20 and gave Eastview a 3-2 lead with his hat trick at 1:10 of the third period.

Eastview’s only other goal came from Nick Casalenda with 9:23 to go in the third.

The Lightning’s Adam Bressler and Jim Bauer chipped in with two assists each for their team. The Packers took 14 shots at Lee in the last period, but the goalie stopped each shot.

The Lightning advanced to play White Bear Lake on Saturday in the consolation final.
