The on-again, off-again multipurpose building was put off again by Mower County’s Board of Commissioners. And that has some people pretty disappointed in the county board.
On the other hand, there are some who are happy the idea was scrapped, and would like to see the plans left on the cutting-room floor.
Now the city of Austin will try to move ahead with a similar project. The county will be asked to contribute financially.
The city plans to renovate Riverside Arena and add another sheet of ice.
There are definitely different camps on this issue, and the each of City Council members need to know what his or her constituents would have the council do.
Are you happy the county dropped plans to proceed at this time? Do you think Riverside Arena meets the needs of the community? Would you rather see your tax dollars go to fund something other than a multipurpose building?
Are you angry the plan was scrapped again? Do you want to see the fruits of all the time and money already spent by the county? Do you want a multipurpose building and are willing to pay for it? Write, call, fax or e-mail your council member.
You elected the men and women who make the decisions for this city. They work for you. But this is an important issue, and they need your input.
