A number of Austin High School students were cited for underage drinking in the Twin Cities area over the weekend.
Schools Superintendent Dr. James Hess said this morning that Principal Joe Brown had briefed him on the citations today, however, he was unaware how many students were cited. The students apparently had been attending the state high school hockey tournament in St. Paul.
Hess said that Brown has not sent him the details of the incident yet and that he was unaware how many students were cited and where they were cited.
Brown was unavailable this morning for comment.
Michael Jordan, a spokesman for the St. Paul Police Department, said this morning that his agency did not have any reports of large numbers of students being cited for underage drinking.
