LAKEVILLE – Four Austin High School wrestlers will advance to state competition as a result of Section 1AA competition here on Saturday.

Ther wrestlers advancing are:

T.J. Parlin at 112 pounds

Spencer Wolner at 119 pounds

Drew Oesterle at 145 pounds

Chad Mentel at 189 pounds

Parlin and Mentel were section champions while Wolner and Oesterle were runners-up.

Parlin, Wolner and Mentel all were seeded to advance, while Oesterle was sixth seed.

"That was a nice surprise," coach Bill Kinney said of Oesterle. "It was a well deserved honor. He’s worked well to get where he’s at."

Competition starts Thursday, with preliminaries at noon and quarterfinals at 2 p.m.

Matches already lined up include:

Parlin vs. Dan Bresino of St. Paul Como Park

Wolner vs. Matt Svihel of Totino Grace

Oesterle vs. Brian Hackenmueller of Elk River

Mentel vs. Matt Schmitt of St. Paul Central

Parlin, a freshman, is undefeated for the season, while Mentel has had only one loss.
