The Blue Devils women of Riverland Community College defeated the Worthington Blue Jays, 66-51 on Saturday.
The Lady Devils used strong rebounding and patience on offense for the win.
The teams exchanged baskets most of the first half. The Devils opened a small margin at the 8:30 mark, going up 21-15 on the offense rebounding of Melissa Rosel.
They extended their lead to 28-17 after a couple of defense stops and good ball rotation that led to open shots. The Blue Devils led at the half, 35-23.
The Blue Devils went with more of the same in the second half. Rebounding and second-chance scoring opened a 58-41 lead with 5:47 to play. They closed out the game with free throws and more defense.
"We are starting to play the best ball of the year right now," Coach Suzy Hebrink said after the game, "and looking forward to our next game Wednesday at Anoka."
The teams are tied for fourth place in the conference.
