"We had a little difficulty with the beam, but not enough to be a real problem," coach Mark Raymond said. "As a team, we tied Winona with a 36.8 on vault – this was the best team result on the day for anyone."

Owatonna was second with a 36.35 score. Austin was first on bars with a 35.6, Winona was second with a 35.325 and Austin was fifth on beam with a 33.275. Also, Mankato East was first with a 34.95, Austin was fourth on floor with a 35.65 and Winona was first with a 37.15.

Austin’s Suzanne Kooy was only able to compete on bars because of an ankle injury sustained Thursday night.

"We hope to have her back in the lineup as an all-arounder on Friday for the section tournament," Raymond said. "She has been a solid performer on four events and will help the team score if she is able to compete on Friday."

Stacy Draayer filled in for Kooy on beam, Danielle Chapek filled in for Kooy on vault and Chrissy Kluczny filled in for her on floor.

"All three girls did an outstanding job," Raymond said. "It is nice to have a little depth so that when things like this happen we have a couple of girls ready to step up and fill in."
