Jim Thorson of Grand Meadow’s bank account is $13,000 lighter today. His son and his son’s friend, both juveniles, are suspected in the theft.

Thorson discovered that his checkbook was missing a couple of days ago and waited for his son to come home so that he could question him about the theft. His son never came home.

On Jan. 2, Thorson received a call from Spring Valley Security Bank, notifying him that $2,500 in cash and $10,500 in traveler’s checks were charged to his account.

Thorson proceeded to report the theft to authorities at approximately 3 p.m. on Jan. 2.The case has been referred to the County Attorney’s office.
