ITASCA -The Riverland women played their best 20 minutes of basketball Saturday afternoon. In the second half of their game against Itasca, the Blue Devils scored 54 points and gave up just 14. Riverland went on to a 85-36 win to improve their record to 4-3.
"It was by far the best second half of basketball that we have played this season," Riverland coach Suzy Hebrink said.
Missy Avery led the way for the Blue Devils with a game high 23 points. She hit two threes and had six assists. Melissa Rosel also had an outstanding game. She scored 17, 7-of-8 from the free-throw line, pulled down 14 rebounds, had seven steals, and three assists.
"Melissa has been a great leader for us this year," Hebrink said.
Samantha Ulrich scored 14 points, Tammy May 12, Alissa Goetzinger eight with one trey, Brooke Holets six, and Sara Nagele five.
The Blue Devils host Northland Friday night and Fergus Falls Saturday afternoon.
