What a night of nail-biting!

The race for president went back and forth through the evening. This morning, while the race seems to tilt in Texas Gov. George W. Bush’s favor, the question of a legal recount in Florida looms.

Hopefully, a decision can be made so the task of forming a presidency can move on. It’s very important to transitions can commence.

There was a local nail-biter, too. Early on, it appeared state Sen. Pat Piper (DFL-Austin) would win the race for District 27. As late returns came in from rural Freeborn County this morning, Grace Schwab (R-Albert Lea) pulled ahead to eek out a win.

Now the real work begins. Good luck, winners.
