Esther J. Parmenter, 79, of Albert Lea, died Monday, Sept. 11, 2000, at Thorncrest South Nursing Home in Albert Lea.

She was born March 27, 1921, in Sargeant to Roy and Laura (Neuman) Beaver. She lived in Little Cedar, Iowa, then Rose Creek and then she moved to Austin where she had lived for many years. She later moved to Albert Lea in 1994. She married John C. Parmenter on May 6, 1939, in Austin. Together they lived in Lyle and Austin. She was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin. Esther was a homemaker for most of her life and also had worked at Cedar Valley Services for about a year. She enjoyed cooking, watching birds, puzzles and planting flowers. She also liked making latch hook rugs and sewing.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Robert (Donna) Parmenter, Canfield, Ohio, Raymond (Julie) Parmenter, Albert Lea, John (Barb) Parmenter, Austin, Randy Parmenter, Albert Lea; daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth (Vern) George, Champlin, Sarah (Sue) Camerer, Albert Lea, Vicki (Larry) Underhill, Austin; 31 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen Leidal, Austin, Joyce DeLaney, Richcrest, Calif., Mary Pryor, Des Monies, Iowa, Alice (James) Merical, Des Moines, Ruth (James) Merical, Des Moines, Ruth (Merle) Pannhoff, Ventura, Iowa; brother and sister-in-law, Lester (Peggy) Beaver, Charles City, Iowa; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband John C. Parmenter; sons, Bruce, Dwain, Dennis; daughters, Rachel, Sharon; three brothers and one sister.

Service: Memorial service 10 a.m. Friday at Clasen-Jorden Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. David Herness officiating.

Interment: Grandview Cemetery
