The Austin cross country team had some outstanding runs at the Lakeville Invitational.

The Austin boys finished in 11th place in the 20 team field with a ninth-place finish by Lee Nordby leading the way.

Eastview was the top team with 64 points. Centennial finished second with 79. Austin scored 258 points.

The top individual in the 5,000-meter race was Trent Riderg of Moundsview with a time of 16:32. Paul Minne of Lakeville finished second with a time of 16:53. Nordby’s time was 17:21. Justin Poirier finished in 25th for Austin with a time of 17:45.

Other Austin times were: Carl Bauer (53) – 18:26, Mike Hansen (83) – 19:07, Derek Roeder (88) – 19:17, Matt Adwell (89) – 19:18, and Spencer Wolner (99) – 19:48. There were 133 total runners.

Three Austin girls ran in the 4K varsity meet. There was a total of 130 runners. Katie Munk was 47th with a time of 16:43, Natalie Bowers was 59th with a time of 16:56, and Jenna Cummins was 101st with a time of 18:35.

The top team was Lakeville with a score of 71. Northfield was second with 99 points. The top individual was Rachel Debeyn of Centennial with a time of 14:30. Anne Yetzer of Lakeville recording the same time was second.

On Friday, the Packers compete in the Mayo Invitational at the Eastwood Golf Course. On Saturday, the Run Across Mower County fund-raiser will be held. The money raised is split evenly between the United Way and the cross country team. Sponsors can support the Austin runners by the mile or in a lump sum.
