A 29-year-old Austin male was jailed over the weekend and faces charges that he allegedly sexually assaulting his estranged wife.

According to an Austin Police Department report, the incident occurred at 4 a.m. Sunday at a southeast Austin residence occupied by the 26-year-old woman.

The woman told police investigators that her husband moved out of the residence several days ago and is living with his parents.

He returned to the woman’s residence Saturday night, but was told to leave. He returned a second time and was told to leave. When he returned a third time, he forced her to have sex with him.

The man was picked up by police at his parents’ residence and placed in the Mower County Jail, pending a review of the police report by the Mower County Attorney and possible charges.

Car theft charges

Dennis Felt, 51 of Austin, is being held in the Mower County Jail on felony auto theft charges.

Felt was arrested after he allegedly stole a car registered to Gloria Gilbert.

According to an Austin Police Department, Felt was recognized by an officer on routine patrol as he was seen driving in the 1300 block of Ninth Avenue NW at 8:31 p.m. Friday.

The police officer was on his way to another call when he observed a vehicle moving erratically in traffic and recognized the driver as Felt.

The car’s owner told police she had not given Felt permission to drive her car, which was in storage and had no insurance.

In addition to felony auto theft, Felt faces gross misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol/driving while intoxicated and driving after cancellation charges, according to the police report.

Verbal, then physical fight

Alejandro Ortiz, 27, of Austin, faces first-degree assault and possible other charges after he allegedly forced his way into an apartment rented to Melissa Vargas, 26, along Second Avenue NW, according to Austin police.

Police responded to the apartment after receiving two 911 hangup calls from the residence, where loud voices could be heard in the background.

According to the Austin Police Department report, Ortiz and Vargas are ex-friends and have a child between them.

When police arrived, they discovered Jesus Diaz, 23, a new boyfriend of Vargas, in the apartment’s bathroom, bleeding and with visible wounds to his face and body.

Vargas told police Ortiz burst into her apartment and assaulted Diaz and Ortiz was taken to the Mower County Jail pending a court appearance.

Car prowling charge

Santiago Jaimes, 22, of Austin, was apprehended after a report of car-prowing in the Twin Towers apartment complex parking lot early Sunday.

According to an Austin Police Department report, eyewitnesses in the apartment buildings saw a man breaking into vehicles into the parking lot and called police.

When an officer arrived, he arrested Jaimes and took him to the Mower County Jail.

In addition to charges of tampering with a motor vehicle, Jaimes faces charges of obstructing the legal process and he is being held for the Immigration and Naturalization Service as an illegal alien.

Victim found on lawn

Austin police officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance early Saturday morning, where witnesses said they would find a woman sitting on a front lawn, bleeding and crying.

When they arrived, the woman, 24, was as witnesses described, sitting on the grass outside a northeast Austin apartment, sobbing, bleeding from cuts and wounds to her face, head and back and naked above the waist.

Okany N. Alaye, 28, of Austin, was arrested and jailed on assault charges, police said.

The victim told police she had returned home from work and Alaye was there to greet her. She told the man she was too tired to see him and a verbal argument escalated into the assault and continued on the front lawn of the residence.
