Rob Leighton, Richard P. Cummings and Bob Goetz were the first to file for elective office in the 2000 campaign.
The filing period began Wednesday in Mower County.
Leighton, an Austin attorney, is completing his third two-year term in the Minnesota House, representing District 27B.
The DFLer is opposed by Jeff Anderson, an Austin High School teacher and coach, who is expected to file as a Republican.
Cummings is the dean of Mower County commissioners, having served more years than any other county board member.
The First District county commissioner is seeking his sixth four-year term on the county board.
Goetz was elected to fill a two-year vacancy on the Mower County Soil and Water Conservation District board of supervisors.
Now, Goetz has filed for his first four-year term, representing conservation District No. 5.
Wednesday also was the first day to file nominating petitions. The state and county office filing period ends at 5 p.m. July 18.
Both the Minnesota House and Senate office-holders are up for re-election this year.
Only one other county board seat is up for re-election; that is the Second District seat held by Ray Tucker of Dexter.
