BLOOMING PRAIRIE – Independence Day begins with the Awesome Blossom tennis and volleyball tournaments.
It ends with a bang.
Registration for the tournaments begins at 8 a.m. at Victory Field. Then, the Independence Day schedule lists events for the entire family, beginning at 9 a.m. at City Park.
Local clubs and organizations will open their food and other concession stands to accommodate the crowds and by afternoon, the largest Independence Day parade will be the focus of attention.
The grand parade begins at 2:30 p.m. with more than 200 units expected to attract the attention of crowds in excess of 30,000 people.
After the 90-minute parade, there are more patriotic activities in City Park and Victory Field before the holiday concludes with music at Victory Field beginning at 8 p.m., the raffle drawing at the Servicemen’s Club, also at 8 p.m., and finally a fireworks display over Victory Field at 10 p.m.
The events are sponsored by the Blooming Prairie Chamber of Commerce.
