The board of directors of the Austin Artist Series has announced the attractions from its 57th season.

Headlining the season is the classic Charles Dickens’ "A Christmas Carol" on Nov. 19.

This is a full two hour adaptation for the musical stage, including 18 actors, four musicians, nine technicians and full staging. This will be a matinee performance at 4 p.m.

Other attractions

Oct. 6, 7:30 p.m. The Sons of the San Joaquin will perform. According to Roy Rogers, it’s "the only singing group who I feel sounds like the original Sons of the Pioneers.

Oct. 25, 7:30 p.m. Prague Virtuosi Orchestra will take the stage. It’s a 15 member string orchestra on its first American tour.

March 30, 2001 7:30 p.m. The Westwind Brass Quartet will perform.

May 5, 2001 7:30 p.m. Paul Asaro Trio will offer pops and jazz with piano, sax, percussion and clarinet.

Osage performances

Members of the Austin Artist Series are also entitled to attend the concerts offered in Osage.

Nov. 19, 7:30 p.m. Per Tungstrand, Swedish pianist

Feb. 9, 2001, 7:30 p.m. "An Enchanted Evening" with a musical duo performing Broadway music.

March 12, 7:30 p.m. Katherine Wilson and friends offer classical and light piano, violin and cello.

The fall membership campaign will run Sept. 5-20. Costs for memberships are: adult, $25; family, $55; and student, $10.

The Executive board officers for the 57th season are Dave Kallman, president; Chuck Keller, vice president and assistant business manager; Janet Sandum, secretary; Karen Anderson, business manager and treasurer; and Nell Madura, historian.
