Rochester drops first in two years to Austin men’s team

The 30-and-over Austin Men’s Baseball team played one great game against the Rochester Fleurys Sunday afternoon at Marcusen Park.

The 30-and-over Austin Men’s Baseball team played one great game against the Rochester Fleurys Sunday afternoon at Marcusen Park. The Rochester team was beaten for the first time by anyone in two years by the Austin nine. The score was 6-5.

Rochester’s Tim Van Prosik struck out 17. Austin got to him in the fourth inning with three runs. Both teams picked up a run in the fifth and heading into the ninth inning Austin was up 4-1.

Rochester struck for four runs off Steve Wilson in the top of the ninth. Austin then rallied with one out in the bottom of the ninth. Terry Schwab singled. Joe Rushton then doubled Schwab home. Wilson then was intentionally walked. Cory Myrhe then smacked a single for the game-winning hit.

Rochester and Austin now are tied for first with 5-1 marks in the Hiawatha League. Austin is again in action at Marcusen Park next Sunday afternoon.
