An Austin man remains in the Mower County Jail after being arrested on a charge of felony assault.
Rory Hunter, 30, was involved in a stabbing incident at a northwest Austin residence early Thursday.
The victim, Richard Greathouse, 22, of Austin, suffered minor wounds.
According to an Austin Police Department report, officers were called to a Fourth Avenue NW address at 2 a.m. Thursday, where citizens had reported a fight in progress.
When they arrived, they discovered a man, identified as Greathouse, lying in the street and wearing a bloody T-shirt.
Greathouse was taken to Austin Medical Center-Mayo Health System’s emergency room for treatment of superficial cuts and a puncture wound to the stomach.
Greathouse told officers that Terry Williams and his brother, Rory Hunter, assaulted him inside a residence and the incident was witnessed by other individuals. Hunter was identified by Greathouse as the individual who stabbed him, police said.
While officers were questioning Greathouse at the hospital a second time, Hunter arrived for treatment of a cut to his right thumb.
Hunter was taken into custody and taken to the Mower County Jai.
Terry Williams has not been charged for his role in the incident.
No weapon has been found and the police report said other individuals at the party have been uncooperative with investigators.
Woman strikes officers
An Austin woman has been charged with second-degree assault.
According to an Austin Police Department report, a group of children, ages 9 to 12, accused Mary Kolb, 24, of 907 Eighth St. SE, of chasing them with a knife.
The juveniles had gathered at the intersection of Eighth Street and Ninth Avenue SE at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
According to the report, Kolb came to the front door of her residence and yelled at the children. Then she came out of the residence, continued to yell at them and proceeded to run in their direction.
No weapon was found, but the children told officers they saw a knife in her hand.
When officers interviewed Kolb, she was combative and at one point struck and kicked officers. She was handcuffed and charged with second-degree assault and transported to Austin Medical Center-Mayo Health System’s emergency room for observation.
Two of the children that Kolb accused of harassing her are from the same neighborhood. No injuries occurred to any of the children, according to the report.
