The Austin American Legion softball team for the second straight night dominated an opponent at Todd Park.

The Austin American Legion softball team for the second straight night dominated an opponent at Todd Park. The victim this time was Albert Lea. Austin won the first game of the doubleheader 15-0 (three innings) and the second 15-3 (six innings).
Amber Wilson got the win in game one. She gave up no hits while striking out one and walking one. Melanie Gabrielson scored four runs and Joni Sheedy hit a double and had two RBI.
Abbey Bergstrom got the win in game two. She struck out eight and walked three and gave up three hits. Gabrielson was three-for-five in the game with four stolen bases and three runs scored. Kari Leif hit a triple. Betsy Matheis hit a double and had two RBI. Devon Esse was three-for-three with three RBI. Lastly, Bergstrom, Sheedy and Megan Olsen all had two RBI in the game.
"We hit the ball well and had some great defense," Austin coach Denny Bray said. "Tiffany Poirier made some good plays at short as did Laura Haas at first."
Austin (12-6, 6-0) plays a doubleheader at Todd Park for a third straight night. Today’s games are with Blooming Prairie.
n Notes on 16 and under teams: The two Austin 16 and under teams, Austin Weyerhauser and the Austin Eagles split a doubleheader Monday night. The Eagles won game one 2-0 and Weyerhauser the night cap 5-0.
This past weekend Weyerhauser finished in second place in a tournament in St. Peter. Saturday they won by scores of 3-1, 7-0 and 3-1. Sunday they started the day beating Minnetonka 5-3. They then beat Chisago Lakes 4-3 before losing the championship 2-1 to Mahtomedi.
