Austin’s "Pigs In The City" event officially gets under way at 5 p.m. Monday at Riverside Arena with a pig unveiling. The event is free and open to the public.
Most, if not all, of the approximately 50 pigs sold will be on display. Many volunteers have spent hours making works of art out of the concrete hogs.
At 6 p.m., a pig auction will take place with all the proceeds going to local charities.
It ought to be a fun event and a great way to kick off this summer-long display that promises to bring thousands of people to our community this summer.
What better way to celebrate our community’s heritage and at the same time help bring business to our local store owners?
Be sure to stop by and check out the pigs. They are indeed works of art.
