The host Houston Hurricanes beat Lyle/Pacelli 5-4 Monday to take a share of the Southeast Conference softball title.
Both teams ended with 12-2 conference records. L/P’s overall mark was 14-5.
Last Monday, L/P beat Houston 4-3 in eight innings. The second game of the scheduled doubleheader then was postponed due to poor weather.
In the make-up game, L/P had some major clouts with triples from Kari Leif and Erin Evans and a double by Melissa Ehret, but those hits were not enought to overcome the hosts. Houston scored five runs on five hits and three L/P errors. Buffy Judd and Amy Bickler also got hits for L/P, which had a total of five.
L/P earned the No. 2 seed in the seven-team Section 1A West Division. Kenyon-Wanamingo (14-3, 9-1 in the Hiawatha Vally League) gained the top seed.
West Division play begins Thursday at the higher seeds home park. L/P plays Chatfield (2-16) at Todd Park at 4:30 p.m. No. 3 Goodhue (9-9) hosts Southland (4-14) and No. 4 LOGM (9-10) plays Randolph (10-10) at Ostrander at 4:30 p.m. St. Charles is the No. 1 seed in the eight-team East Division.
