Candy Howg makes sure daughter Toni is wearing her helmet before riding off in Saturday’s DARE Bike-A-Thon. The Rotary-sponsored event saw close to 300 children raise about $17,000. Rotary member Mark Bjorlie estimated the final total after expenses would be between $12,000 and $13,000 – a sum which will be split between the county and the city DARE programs. Including parents, Bjorlie estimated there were close to 500 riders that turned up for the annual fund raiser.
