The Riverland baseball and softball teams earned doubleheader splits on Monday.
The baseball team downed Anoka-Ramsey in the opener, 9-8, on Buck Nelson’s game-winning RBI double in the bottom of the seventh inning. Riverland had 14 hits in the game and got three RBI each from Lon Sorenson (3-for-4) and Jason Koopal (2-for-3).
Chris Stratton and Matt Lange each added three hits.
Ryan Long got the win, going the distance. He allowed just three earned runs and struck out seven.
Riverland next plays Wednesday at North Iowa Area CC in Mason City.
Riverland committed six errors and lost the nightcap 11-2. Josh Diemer had three hits in the game.
The Riverland softball team won beat Central Lakes 10-9 in the opener and lost 9-2 in the nightcap.
The Blue Devils play Bethany Lutheran today in Mankato and host North Iowa on Wednesday.
