Jon Severson pitched a complete game for his third win of the season as host Hayfield downed Pine Island 5-0 on Monday.

Jon Severson pitched a complete game for his third win of the season as host Hayfield downed Pine Island 5-0 on Monday.
In 19 innings this season, Severson has not allowed an earned run.
On offense, the Vikings’ Matt Harvey led the way with a triple and a double and one RBI.
The Vikings are 4-0 overall and in the Hiawatha Valley League.

The Hayfield girls’ track and field team won a three-team meet in Cannon Falls on Monday.
The Vikings (105 points) got 15 first-place finishes to easily outpace Cannon Falls (61) and Prescott, Wis. (20).
Sheri Swanson won both hurdle events (the 110- and 300-meter races) and the high jump. Kelli Krueger won the 100 dash. Sara Halverson won the 1,600 run. Heather Moldahl won the 3,200 run.
Lauren Burmeister won the 400 dash. Sheryl West won the 200 dash. Kristin Petersen won the shot and disc. Lauren Burmeister won the triple jump and Bonnie Thoe won the long jump.
