Jon Severson pitched a one-hitter, leading Hayfield to a 5-2 win in the opening game of a doubleheader split with Rochester Lourdes on Tuesday.

For Severson, the win was his fourth of the year.

He has pitched 25 innings this season without allowing an earned run.

Justin Oakland hit his s dgrand slam of the year to back Severson’s mound dominance.

In the nightcap, Lourdes came back to trounce the Vikings, 12-5. Hayfield committed five errors in the game.

Hayfield is 5-2 overall.

Riverland golfer needs funds

Riverland sophomore, Mike Willford, and golf coach Dave Lillemon will play golf all day at the Willford’s hometown Lanesboro Golf Course on Friday.

The duo is raising money to fund Willford’s upcoming June trip to the National Junior College Golf Tournament in New York.
