ADAMS – Amanda Jo Rice was named the 2000 Mower County Dairy Princess at Monday night’s banquet.

She is the daughter of Dennis and Deborah Rice, LeRoy, and was sponsored by Dairy Farmers of America.

Named attendants were Heather Ann Irvin, daughter of Robert and Connie Irvin; Ashley Miller, daughter of Brian and Sherri Miller; Bethany Lynn Read, daughter of Roger and Lori Read; and Marcie Jo Rossow, daughter of Mike and Vicki Rossow.

Held in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church fellowship hall, the 47th annual Mower County Dairy Princess banquet included a boneless chicken breast dinner served by the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Women’s organization.

Jeff Stewart, a farm commentator for the Linder Farm Network and KOWZ-FM, was master of ceremonies.

The Froiland Family provided musical entertainment.

Special awards went to Jim Baldus and Jim’s SuperValu of Austin for his promotional work with dairy producers.

Also, Renee Schmitz and Renee’s Cafe won the Milk Pitcher Award for the restaurant that supports dairy producers through the use of dairy products.

Cousins Janet and Anna Smith relinquished the title they held in 1999, thanking friends and family for their support.

George Moline auctioned items to raise money for the dairy princess scholarship fund.
