Warmer weather – if that’s what you call temperatures hovering in the mid-30s – is expected for the weekend. Here are some events to take part in:
Reading events
Reading is the activity of the weekend as several events continue forward from today’s Read Across America Day. If you missed the party with Dr. Seuss’ Cat in the Hat this morning at the Austin Public Library, return for a reprise from 3:30 to 4 p.m. today for stories and cookies. Children are invited to wear hats from somewhere they’ve visited. Then, attend an event at Target from 5 to 7 p.m. with both readings and refreshments and a salute to Dr. Seuss on his birthday. Lastly, there will be a Reading on the Mall event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at OakPark Mall.
Plenty of pancakes
The Pacelli High School Booster Club is sponsoring a pancake breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to noon Sunday at St. Augustine’s Church, 405 Fourth St. NW. Tickets for adults are $3, children are $2 and families are $10.
Even more pancakes
Pacelli folks won’t be the only ones flipping flapjacks this weekend. The Blooming Prairie High School Music Boosters will have a pancake breakfast at the Blooming Prairie Servicemen’s Club from 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday. Tickets are $3 for children ages 6-10 and $5 for all those age 11 and up. Proceeds will benefit the music trip to New Orleans this month.
