William Mee, an agent with Progressive Realty, an entity of Rainbow Foods’ parent company Fleming Cos. Inc. in Oklahoma City, Okla., said earlier this week that if all goes according to plan, a new tenant might be found within a month or two.

Mee said that a local broker is being appointed to help find a new tenant for the store that Rainbow vacated last weekend on 14th Street NW.

While Mee would not comment on the type of business being courted for the empty building, Patrick Liska, Rainbow’s senior vice president of operations, said Thursday: "We’ll market it to anyone.

"We don’t have anybody right now," Liska added. "Obviously, we’d like to lease it."

He added that the firm plans to gut the store of its grocery business equipment, however, if another store owner came in and wanted some of the fixtures or equipment, they’d negotiate with the new tenant.

Bradley Real Estate, based in Minneapolis, owns the building that housed Rainbow Foods, which still is under lease.
