Monday accidents send two to hospital

A woman complaining of back pain was taken to the hospital Monday afternoon after an intersection collision.
Lydia Elsa Lien was taken to Austin Medical Center by a Gold Cross Ambulance Service crew, according to an Austin Police Department report.
The mishap occurred at 2:45 p.m. Monday at the intersection of 8th Street and 2nd Avenue NE.
Lien’s vehicle was southbound on Eighth Street, when it collided with and east bound vehicle driven by Carlos Humberto Herrera and containing one passenger, Cheryl Kay Herrera-Bustos.
Another personal injury mishap was investigated Saturday afternoon at Racine.
According to a Mower County Sheriff’s Department report, a bicycle being ridden by Michael Goeldi, 10 of Racine, collided with a car driven by Marlo Postier also of Racine at a city intersection at 4:39 p.m. Saturday.
The boy suffered a cut lip and his father took him to obtain medical attention, according to the sheriff’s department report.
Burglary investigated
A break-in was discovered Monday morning at DJ’s RV Repair, 10th Drive SE.
According to a Mower County Sheriff’s Department report, the thieves gained entrance through an east window and escaped via the garage on the west side of the building.
An estimated $1,200 in tools was reported missing, plus $400 in cash and currency.
Tire tracks and foot-prints were found at the scene and casts made. Also, finger prints on the broken window glass were uncovered.
The break-in occurred sometime between 3 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Monday, according to the sheriff’s department report.
