The host Knights hit 10 three-point field goals on their way to a 76-45 win on Thursday.

The Knight broke out to a 27-13 lead after one quarter of play. They then beat up L/P 17-2 in the next eight minutes of play.

"We didn’t stand up to their pressure," L/P coach Gary Erlandson said. "They were playing well and we didn’t match their effort."

Adam Sorenson hit 40 percent of the Kingsland threes and scored 14 points in the game. Luke Rath was the leading Kingsland scorer with 15 points.

Phil Halbach led L/P (3-13) with 16 points in the contest. Jason Helgeson scored eight, Matt Row six, Danny Greibrok and Jeff Austin four each, Josh Kunze three, and Dean DeBoer and Jared Koopal two each.

The Rebels’ defense-oriented approach has finally lifted the team to .500.

"That’s our game," Southland coach Greg Storey said. "We’ve gotta play defense to win."

Host Southland won the game in the fourth quarter, a frame in which the Cardinals did not score. The Rebels entered the fourth trailing 26-23.

"They couldn’t hit their shots," Southland coach Greg Storey said of the Cardinals, who shot a woeful 2-of-26 in the second half.

Freshman big man Chad Orum of L-O led all scorers with 16 points.

Matt Decker and Scott Schammel paced the Rebels with 10 points each. Syd Schramm and Josh Wilson scored six apiece.

The Rebels (3-2 in the Southeast Conference) travel to Elgin-Milville for a boys/girls doubleheader on Saturday.
