The Austin Packers split with the two Rochester teams in gymnastics on Thursday. The Packers beat the Mayo Spartans, but lost to Century/John Marshall in a dual-dual in Rochester.
Century/John Marshall scored 144.25 points in the meets, Austin 139.275, and Mayo 137.825.
Austin’s Amy Bickler won the all-around in the Mayo meet with a score of 37.45. She also finished first on the vault (9.45), and balance beam (9.6), and second on bars (8.95) and the floor exercise (9.45).
"Amy had a great beam," Austin coach Rhonda Alberts said. "It was her highest beam score of the year."
Jenna Bernardo tied for third on the vault with a score of 8.95. Suzanne Kooy and Andrea Anderson tied for third on the uneven parallel bars with a score of 8.8 and Amanda Lyons finished third on the balance beam (8.8).
In the Century/John Marshall meet, it was Amy Heath and Monika Scheitauer leading the way for the Rochester combined schools. Heath won the all-around with a score of 37.75. Bickler was second with 37.45, and Scheitauer third with 36.325.
Bickler was first in the vault, Heath second (9.425) and Bernardo tied with Scheitauer for third.
Heath was first on the bars with a 9.6 and Bickler second. Bickler won the beam with Century/JM’s Steph Lovik second with a 9.2. Heath was first on the floor with a 9.725 and Bickler was second.
"We got strong performances from a lot of girls tonight," Alberts said. "It was a good night for us.
"We have now finished the Big Nine dual meet season. We got off to a slow start and finished 3-4.
"We hope to start peaking in the next two weeks with the Big Nine Conference meet a week from Saturday and then Sectionals the following week. We will be fine tuning our routines."
