Also, Mike Hanson, Mower County Highway Department Engineer, has a new proposed budget.

If it’s November, that means the end is near for work on next year’s budget and property tax levy.

Craig Oscarson, county coordinator, advised the commissioners two more finance committee sessions will be needed before the proposed 2000 budget is ready for presentation at the TNT hearing.

According to Oscarson, the meetings are necessary to fine-tune the final revenue and expenditure projects for 2000.

Dave Hillier, 3rd District Mower County Commissioner and chair of the building committee, also had more news about the on-going efforts to raise funds for the new multi-purpose building at the fairgrounds in southwest Austin.

He told the commissioners the city of Austin has formalized its appropriation of an additional $250,000 for the project.

However, Ray Tucker, 2nd District Mower County Commissioner, said he was "upset" that the Austin City Council would "put Mower County’s name on their Paramount Theatre project without our prior knowledge."

The city is seeking a funding package to match the state grant requested by the Paramount Theater and proceed with its renovation.
