It’s early yet, it’s true. The presidential election is just under a year away. It may seem far too soon to start looking at the offerings of the Democrats, Republicans and, well, and others. Honestly, though, it isn’t.

The 2000 election has good races going in both of the major parties. Sen. McCain of Arizona is giving Gov. George Bush of Texas a heck of a run. Sen. Bill Bradley of New Jersey is putting the scare of a lifetime into Vice President Al Gore. And both of these groups still have third and fourth candidates who are worthy of a glance.

And to those who have complained that it’s virtually impossible to tell the difference between parties anymore, these candidates represent widespread stances on many issues, from welfare reform to campaign finance reform.

Get interested now, while there’s still some choice, before the field has been narrowed.
