Public hearings for street assessments top the Austin City Council agenda for Monday’s 5:30 p.m. meeting.

Assessment hearings will be held on the following city projects:

– Sidewalk repair in various parts of Austin;

– Sidewalk and street lighting on North Main St.;

– Street improvement on 3rd Ave. SW from 12th St. to 15th St. SW;

– Street improvement on 1st Drive NW from 8th Place NW to Main Street;

– Street improvement on 19th St. SW from Oakland Ave. to 8th Ave. SW;

– Street improvement on 4th Ave. NE from Ellis Middle School to State Highway 218;

– Sanitary sewer in Austin Acres and Norman Park;

– Water construction in Austin Aces and Norman Park.

Other public hearings set for Monday’s meeting include a hearing on the rezoning of nearly half an acre of property located immediately south of the revamped intersection of 4th St. NW and 1st Drive NW, property that is now green space and a parking lot for the A&W and Point restaurants.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend. There is a time at the start of each meeting to address the council on anything not on the agenda; citizens may also speak during the public hearings. Council meetings start at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers on the lower level of the Municipal Building at 500 4th Ave. NE.
