The Riverland Blue Devils split a pair of home matches this weekend. On Friday they lost a three-game set to Bethany Lutheran of Mankato. On Saturday, the Blue Devils beat Pillsbury College of Owatonna in three games in Austin.
The scores against Bethany were 15-7, 15-1, 15-6.
"We beat ourselves more than they beat us," Riverland coach Helen Jahr said. "We made some serve receive and hitting errors."
Breanna Seira and Krissa Anderly each had two ace serves in the contest. Melissa Majerus and Shanna Dagestad each had four kills.
On Saturday, the scores were in Riverland’s favor, 15-4, 15-5, 15-5.
"We played fine, "Jahr said. "We got off to a little slow start but put it together and played tough."
Melissa was the top attacker with 10 kills.
Jaime Mauseth and Jamie Rosheim each had three kills. Rosheim was big at the service line with six aces. Dagestad made three ace blocks. Seira, the top setter in the Southern Division, had 20 set assists.
Riverland’s (10-13, 3-3) next match is Friday at 6:30 p.m. against Rochester Technical and Community College in Austin.
