Oakwood Cemetery recently removed its old fence and replaced it with a new, shiny green model. From the street, headstones are now more visible, and the fence itself is attractive.
Some people may wonder why they bothered, but it’s a good thing. Cemeteries aren’t just a place to store dead folks. They’re places where people can go to visit a physical representation of where their loved ones are. Headstones exist also to show reverence for a memory. The people who spend the rest of eternity resting beyond that new fence deserve to be in a place their loved ones would enjoy visiting.
