The Vikings have now beaten the Triton Cobras in back-to-back matches.

The Vikings have now beaten the Triton Cobras in back-to-back matches. On Saturday, the Vikings captured third place in the Wabasha-Kellogg Tourney with a two-game win over Triton. Tuesday in Hayfield, the Vikings beat the Cobras 15-12, 15-12, 15-9 in a Hiawatha Valley League affair.

Jana Wohlers scored 11 service points and had 14 set assists in the contest. Kellie Thompson scored 10 times with her serve. Sheri Swanson had eight kills and two ace blocks while Kristin Peterson had six kills.

"It was a stop-and-go match for us," Hayfield coach Deb Harvey said. "We did some things right and then had trouble. We finally solidified our play in the third game with our blocking."

Hayfield (17-2, 5-1) travels to Cannon Falls on Thursday.

Blooming Prairie 3, Medford 0

The Awesome Blossoms swept the Medford Tigers 15-4, 15-12, 15-3.

Jana Peterson had seven kills, Ranell Goette five ace blocks, Annie Hanson four ace serves, Goette nine digs, and Sara Anderson 15 set assists.

"Our passing needed to be a little sharper and our sets were a little too close to the net," Blooming Prairie coach Mary Worke said, "but overall we did a pretty good job."

BP (15-3, 8-0 in the Gopher) travels to Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton on Thursday.

Swimming

Austin edges Waseca, 98-82

The Austin swim team used nine first-place finishes to beat Waseca at the Ellis Middle School pool on Tuesday.

Becky Sanford, Amy Martin, Meghan Walsh and Lauren Goettsch got the Packers rolling with a nine-second win in the 200-yard medley relay. Walsh and Sanford each contributed to the win with four first-place finishes.
