The Austin High girls’ swimming and diving team improved on last year’s eighth-place showing at the Cougar Relays, by finishing fifth among the 12 teams at this year’s event on Saturday.
By finishing among the top six, the Packers left Mankato with a trophy.
"Cougar Relays is a fun meet, " senior Amy Martin said. " It was really exciting and we had a lot of fun."
"We had a great meet," added senior Amy Bowe. "Everyone pulled together and swam well. You can’t ask for more than that."
"The meet was unbelievably awesome," Sarah Heins said. "We all pulled together as a team, both in the water and in cheering for each other. It helps a lot knowing everyone is pulling for you and today that was very obvious. We all love this meet and our fifth place-finish really proved that."
The Packers will return to Mankato to face East on Tuesday.
