In the boys meet, it was Nicollet senior Quinn Dauer leading the way with a time of 16:51 over the 5,000 meter course. At the state meet last year Dauer finished 35th. Blooming Anthony Nelson finished in second with a time of 17:42.

"Nelson was a little bottled up in the first mile when Dauer took his big lead," Blooming Prairie coach Jon Bruns said. "I don’t think Nelson lost much after that."

The Hayfield runners then took four of the next eight spots with Caleb Buecksler in third and Chris Swanson in fourth.

"Hayfield is a team that sets an example for us," Bruns said. "They have shown improvement every time I have seen them in their two years since they have taken up cross country again. They show what hard work can get you."

A pack of Lyle/Pacelli runners then crossed the finish line. In ninth was Andy Boisjolie, 10th Tom Roberts, and 12th T.J. Parlin. Lyle/Pacelli and Blooming Prairie had a great battle for second place in the team competition. They had a tie score with 48 points. The hosts were awarded with second place because their sixth runner, Adam Kazemi crossed the finish line five seconds before Lyle/Pacelli’s sixth and final runner, Seth Pfeil.

"It was a beautiful day to run," Lyle/Pacelli coach Jim Parlin said. "It was nice to run just 15 miles down the road and then have a chance to come home and go to a football game. Everybody is dropping times and we were a lot more competitive than last week. Our top five were in two groups which is what we want to see."

Halvorsen ran away with the girls meet. Her teammates tried to keep up with her which helped the Vikings to the team championship with 35 points. Lauren Burmeister finished in fourth place. Close behind was Heather Meldahl in seventh.

"It looks like we won the girls meet," Hayfield coach Jay Klagge said as he ran passed after the race. "That’s encouraging."

Kasson-Mantorville/Triton finished in second with a score of 43. Blooming Prairie then followed with a score of 57. The Blossoms top three were Tiffany Ingvalson in sixth, Sara Wonderlich in ninth, and Kristin Thoen in 10th.

Lyle/Pacelli had two girls running. They ran together throughout, with Mary McKee nipping Kari Leif at the tape. McKee was 12th with a time of 19:10 and Leif was 13th posting a 19:11.

"Mary and Kari showed nice improvement from last week," Parlin said. "Kari has never long distance. She is off to a good start. With her on the team it’s going to benefit both girls. They will continue to push each other."

In the junior high 3200 meter boys race Lyle/Pacelli’s John Duren finished in third with a time of 15:29 and Shawn Pfeil fourth with a time of 15:33.

Next Friday, Hayfield will be at the Kasson-Mantorville meet, Lyle/Pacelli will be running at Holy Angels on Saturday. The Blossoms will next be running Sept. 21 at NRHEG.
