The committee members all volunteered to serve and were appointed to their positions by the Mower County Board of Commissioners.

Their task is to review options for locating a multipurpose building at the fairgrounds in southwest Austin.

After three meetings to discuss those options they will be asked to make an immediate recommendation to the county board.

Of course, the county commissioners can ignore any recommendation to come from the committee, but it is likely they are in such a hurry to move forward on the long-anticipated project that they will approve the committee’s choice.

But, whatever the choice, there is also the need to make a carefully thought-out decision. It must be a smart choice.

Once the multipurpose building, all 66,000 square feet of it, is built, it will become the anchor of the fairgrounds. All future development will revolve around it.

So, committee members, think hard and make a good choice. All of Mower County is counting on you tonight.
