The Cannon Falls Bombers, led by Class A doubles state qualifier Sarah Fleming, swept two dual meets over Lyle-Pacelli Tuesday on the Wescott Field tennis courts. The Bombers took the first meet 7-0 and the second one 4-0.

The visitors reached four victories in the second meet (eight-game pro sets) before lightning strikes canceled the remaining three matches.

Lyle-Pacelli junior Buffy Judd got the biggest challenge of the day facing Fleming in both singles and doubles. Fleming teamed with Lindsey Norstand at No. 1 doubles in the first meet of the day. Judd was partnered with Tammy May. The Cannon Falls duo won 6-0, 6-2.

In meet two, Fleming beat Judd 8-0 at No. 1 singles.

The other results in meet one had Sammy Jones losing 6-1, 6-2 to Cassie Thomas at No. 1 singles, Laura Christopherson losing 6-3, 6-2 to Zella Vivant at No. 2, Tina Rosenthal losing 6-0, 6-0 to Katie Peterson at three, and a Lyle-Pacelli forfeit at four. In the other two doubles matches, Erin Evans and Laura Weichman were defeated 6-1, 6-1 by Becky Sherman and Erin Hoffman at No. 2 and Ilsa Burke and Kristin Edstrom lost 6-0, 6-0 to Abby Rapp and Meghann Hanson.

In meet two, Cannon Falls Kim Top defeated May 8-0 at No. 2 singles, Thomas and Sherman beat Evans and Rosenthal 8-1 at No. 2 doubles, and Darla Landry and Pauline Melhouse beat Burke and Edstrom 8-0.
