For the Riverland volleyball team, Wednesday’s win over Minnesota West in Worthington couldn’t have come more efficiently.
The Blue Devils swept the match in three games by scores of 15-2, 15-3 and 15-1.
"It was pretty much a blowout," Coach Helen Jahr said.
Twenty-two of the Blue Devils’ 45 points came on ace serves.
Breanna Seira, the one-time Pacelli standout, led the team with nine aces, followed by Shanna Dagestad with five, Cassie Kobow three, Jamie Rosheim three and Jaime Mauseth two.
Seira added 11 set assists, while Melissa Bemis paced the Blue Devils with seven kills.
The Blue Devils upped their mark to 9-12, 3-2 in the Minnesota Community College’s South Division. The Blue Devils are third in the division; the top four teams earn spots in the state tournament.

Austin Youth Basketball is holding registration for the 1999-00 season. Registration for boys and girls in grades five through eight will be held Oct. 6-7 from 6-8 p.m. at OakPark Mall. Any questions, please contact Jon at 437-2437.
Splash-N-Dash is next week
The fifth annual Splash-N-Dash is next week at the YMCA swimming pool. The three-day event begins Monday and continues on Wednesday and Oct. 8, running from 3:30-5 p.m. each day.
Splash-N-Dash is a prime opportunity for youngsters to see what a swim team is about. The Austin High School boys swim team will be helping with instruction.
The week ends with a mini-meet on Oct. 8. Swimmers must be able to swim one length of the YMCA pool. Registration is at the YMCA front desk.
