Bergstrom and passenger James Clinton Schneider, 21, of rural Adams, were traveling eastbound on the road, which is in Clayton Township east of Adams and north of Taopi.

Bergstrom told a Mower County Sheriff’s Department deputy that he’d crossed the center line and over-corrected his steering in an attempt to return to the correct lane. The vehicle lost control and wound up on its roof in the ditch.

The two men exited the vehicle and walked to a nearby residence. The responding deputy smelled alcohol on Bergstrom’s breath and issued the citation.

Bergstrom refused medical attention, while Schneider, who suffered a cut on his forearm, was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.
