Two burglaries reported Wednesday, one in Rose Creek and one in Brownsdale, are believed to have been committed by the same unknown perpetrator(s).
The Route 56 Gas Station in Rose Creek and Krueger Trucking in Brownsdale were both burglarized sometime after 10 p.m. Tuesday and before 7 a.m. Wednesday.
The north side door of the gas station was pried open, as was the south side door of the Krueger Trucking building. A 1 1/2-inch pry mark was left behind on both doors, leading Mower County Sheriff Barry Simonson to say he believed the burglaries were committed by the same perpetrator(s).
Eighteen cartons of cigarettes, $200-and-change from a cash register, deli sandwiches, soda pop and M&Ms were taken from the gas station. All told, the missing items totaled more than $600.
A bill receipt box was taken from the trucking firm; it is not known if there was money in the box or not. The steel door was damaged to the tune of $200.
Tool shed burglarized
Jeff Kenney, of Route 2 box 22 in Elkton, reported tools missing from his tool shed.
A hammer drill, electric drill and a torque wrench were taken from the shed sometime after Aug. 8, when Kenney also noticed a bronze piggy bank missing from his home.
The bank contained more than $200.
Kenney said the tools were marked with the initials "JK."
