According to a Sheriff’s Department report, the Grand Meadow Police Department was called to the parking lot outside Woody’s Bar at the intersection of County Highway No. 8 and Highway 16 at 1:17 a.m. Sunday.

Susan J. Lee, 37 and wife of Ronald, was found lying face-down on the blacktopped parking lot. She told investigating officers, her husband ran over her with the couple’s van.

According to the victim’s report, the couple had argued earlier during a visit to nearby Grumpy’s Bar and Restaurant and when they left the establishment, the victim felt her husband was "too drunk to drive."

The husband refused his wife’s warnings and got into the van behind the steering wheel and started the engine. Meanwhile, the victim grabbed a hold of the mirror and when the vehicle pulled away she was knocked to ground and the van ran over her.

Tire marks on her body from the left shoulder to the legs matched those of the tires on the van to substantiate her story.

The husband was at the scene when Grand Meadow police and Mower County Sheriff’s deputies arrived and taken into custody.

The victim was treated and released for possible injuries after the incident.
