Welcome to the 1999 Mower County Fair!

Austin is proud to host this annual celebration of life and fun in the countryside. Not only is Austin the seat of Mower County government, but an example of how important agriculture is.

Hormel Foods Corporation is one example of Austin’s dependence upon agriculture.

There are others.

Just drive the city’s streets and see them.

Imagine the hole left if there were no Persinger’s Equipment Inc.

Imagine the hole left if there were no Double K Specialty, Inc.

Imagine the hole left if there were no CT Farm and Country.

Imagine also the holes of a different kind if Mower County’s treasury wasn’t filled, in part, by taxes paid by rural residents.

Subtract Super Fresh Produce, too. And local veterinary services and every other business and professional services, who depend on clients from the countryside.

Say what you will about the state of agriculture, but to say nothing but good when so many depend upon it would be unholy or at least wholly irresponsible.

Subtract agriculture anywhere in our lives and the holes it leaves is bottomless.
