Picks: somebody has to win Browns-Bengals game

Published Wednesday, September 24, 2008

Well the Jags knocked off the Colts in Indy last week, the Cowboys looked unbeatable in Green Bay, and Brady Quinn may be the Browns QB within days or weeks. Off to the picks.

Minnesota at Tennessee

Pick: TITANS

The Titans defense may be the best in the league and I believe they’ll force a turnover or two out of Gus Ferotte. Minnesota will have to run big to have a chance in this one.

San Francisco at New Orleans

Pick: SAINTS

The banged up Saints get a little break with an unproven team coming to New Orleans. Some home cooking will do New Orleans just fine.

Green Bay at Tampa Bay

Pick: PACKERS

It’ll be the running game that wins this one for the Packers as Tampa is tough to pass on. This should be Aaron Rodgers biggest test so far. Will he make mistakes against a defense that often got in Favre’s head over the years?

Houston at Jacksonville

Pick: JAGUARS

Houston hasn’t shown much life this year, and the Jags are flying high after a big win against the Colts.

San Diego at Oakland

Pick: CHARGERS

It wasn’t a fluke how the Chargers manhandled the Jets Monday Night. Look for this team to go on a long winning streak.

Washington at Dallas

Pick: COWBOYS

Dallas showed Green Bay a new wrinkle in their offense against the Packers — a vicious running game. If the Boys can pass and run, they’re defense will just have to play average for them to win most weeks. This is one of those weeks as the Redskins offense is limited.

Denver at Kansas City

Pick: BRONCOS

Jay Cutler should have a field day against a Kansas City team that is looking quite woeful.

Arizona at New York Jets

Pick: JETS

Favre will have a classic bounce back game after being accused of not knowing all of the Jets’ plays on Monday night. He’ll study twice as hard and come out strong as he usually does after a bad game.

Atlanta at Carolina

Pick: PANTHERS

Falcons have won two games against subpar competition, but they’ll see were they stand in this one.

Cleveland at Cincinnati

Pick: BROWNS

In a game between winless Ohio teams, I’ll go with the one who didn’t have one of it’s receivers called ‘Oucho Stinko’ by ESPN’s Chris Bermann last week.

Buffalo at St. Louis

Pick: BILLS

I don’t know if the Rams are really this bad, but they’re looking like a college team that got thrown into the NFL, and didn’t realize the game was just a little bit faster at the next level. They’re benching of Bulger probably won’t make a difference.

Philadelphia at Chicago

Pick: EAGLES

Possible season-breaker for the Bears last week as they let Brian Greise drive down the field for two key scores. The same Greise who was their backup quarterback not to long ago. That’s gotta hurt.

Baltimore at Pittsburgh

Pick: RAVENS

I would love to pick the Steelers, but Willie Parker is out and Roethlisberger was sacked about 10 times last week. I kept waiting for the stretcher to take him away, but it never did.

Last week’s record: 14-2; Overall record: 36-11
