Red's Hiawatha is still open? I guess I haven't been to Austin for a while...certainly haven't been to Railway for quite some time!

Progress, Austin style: Needlessly demolish more structures for parking. Sweet.

I feel like a broken record: Leave the Robbins block alone. 320 parking stalls is MORE than adequate for the center. Those stalls are coupled with the ample parking around downtown from the demolition of many historic buildings in the area. Redevelop the Robbins block--move some county offices there. Provide for some retail. Austin needs to get with the times and demand better redevelopment in the downtown core. The Robbins block will be the bellwether decision that will determine if citizens and elected officials actually value the core of the city or if Austin will continue to become an Anywhere, USA.

I grew up down the street from the Enrights, after Bob had retired from politics. They were great neighbors and Austin will miss them.

Donna, how many more millions of dollars does the community that's supported your family for 75 years need to give you? You sound like a spoiled child.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Tearing down the Robbins Block is the stupidest idea ever. Period.

I agree with the above posters. I'm from Austin and love it, but am so ashamed that so much of the history has been lost. Where's the pride in the community? Downtown Austin could be a great place, especially with this new justice center. Why are the County Commissioners insisting on suburban style development in an urban setting?

I love the idea of using geothermal energy for the new Justice Center but still am not sold on the necessity of demolishing Robbins to make it happen. I firmly believe that Austin needs to do a better job protecting it's historic fabric and rehabilitating existing structures rather than discarding them.
