The Blooming Prairie girls basketball team fell to New Richland/H/E/G 58-44 in New Richland Friday.

The Awesome Blossoms (10-9 overall, 6-5 Gopher) trailed by just seven early in the second half but the Panthers (17-4 overall) built their lead to as many as 18 down the stretch.

The effort was a solid improvement from BP’s 75-35 loss to NRHEG Jan. 5.

“We played a complete game this time, but NRHEG was aggressive on offense and they took it to the hoop,” BP head coach John Worke said.

Alyssa Kerkhoff scored 24 to lead the Panthers, who hit 20 of their 33 free throws.

BP scoring: Erica Manske, 13; Janelle Morem, 6; Whitney Burt, 6; Kelli Naatz, 6; Yasmine Smith, 6; Marie Morem, 4; Jordan Noble, 3; field goals: 33 percent (16-for-48); three-pointers: 36 percent (4-for-11); free throws: 67 percent (8-for-12)
